Summary

Our client is looking for a seasoned and collaborative Product Design Engineer with Metal Fabrication experience to improve existing product designs, help develop new designs, and support cross-functional teams, such as manufacturing, purchasing, and marketing, as needed.

Primary Responsibilities

• Develop product designs that improve current products, as well as new products that provide new functionality and capabilities
• Collaborate with the Purchasing team to identify and validate new sourcing options
• Resolve any product or manufacturing issues both internally and externally
• Identify new manufacturing processes that improve Company production efficiency
• Collaborate with the Manufacturing Operations team to quote and implement new manufacturing processes
• Support Manufacturing Operations to identify and develop necessary design documents and process flows
• Support the development of automated manufacturing equipment
• Support manufacturing with initial machine programs for new products as well as potential tooling efficiencies to support current products/programs
• In collaboration with Marketing, develop assembly instructions, troubleshooting guidelines, and packaging for products
• Provide mentorship and expertise to team members

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (BSME preferred)
• 5+ years of product design experience with an established skillset of new product development, efficiency improvements, and implementing/launching designs and solutions
• Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience
• Experience in and knowledge of Metals Manufacturing processes (including metal cutting, bending, welding, roll-forming, stamping, and/or casting)
• Strong experience with developing and improving manufacturing assembly processes and equipment
• Demonstrated experience with rapid product concept development
• Experience with Solidworks is preferred
• ERP experience
• Solid written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work within cross-functional teams, as well as the ability to self-prioritize and work independently
