Steak-Out History

Steak-Out was initially just a concept that a man called David Martini invented. He worked late, which also meant his dinner was probably cold.

So to fix that, he started digesting ribeye, salad, and baked potatoes after a late-night shift. He also used to say, ”If I ever leave this advertisem*nt business, I’ll start a steak-out business.”

Steak refers to the beef, while out means delivery. In short, he wanted to start a delivery service and serve the goodies that he used to indulge himself in.

On March 21, 1986, he left his job and piled up a good amount of funding to make his dream a reality.

He and his family opened the first Steak-Out Char-Broiled Delivery restaurant at Jordan Lane in Huntsville, Alabama.

The steak-out menu included steak, chicken, and salad for starters. But that was more than enough for people of that era.

Their business grew in rapid succession, and franchising began just a year later. By 2000, Steak-Out had over 70 locations in 17 states.

But slowly, the head decided not to step into unknown territory by putting his entire business at risk.

With time, two states were discontinued, and the sole focus was pointed towards their already established areas.

President Don Harkleroad said in an interview that they are filling the market where they are already.

It was still good since there are a lot of other online delivery services that could partner up with them, creating a win-win situation.

It won’t be as big as serving across the country, but still, it’s a good thing to have. Now they have shrunk down to 50 stores in 15 states.

Current plans show no sign of cross-state expansion, but it is a possibility for future CEOs and presidents of Steak-Out.

Steak-Out Review

By this point, there should be no doubts about the Steak-Out menu or prices. So with that, let’s begin our review section.

The Steak-Out menu had some unusual turns. It had the size options listed as a separate menu. Most restaurants included the option under a single head.

Anyway, a 6-ounce ribeye steak was our first item on the list. Its compact size is perfect since we have plans to try some other dishes out too.

It came with a crisp salad, baked potato, roll, butter, and sour cream. For potatoes, we recommend getting the loaded baked potato.

It costs extra but is worth it. The Ribeye, on the other hand, was perfectly smoked in Char Chol. It’s their specialty, so we expected no less.

Smokeyness and juiciness both had the perfect harmony that makes a good ribeye. Steak-Out knows what they are doing.

The loaded baked potato was, as usual, salty and acted as a great side dish for our main meal.

Next on the list was a grilled chicken filet sandwich. It’s also one of the finest creations from Steak-Out, or so we heard.

This bad boy had lettuce, tomatoes, mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard. We recommend adding onion, which just takes the flavor to the next level.

The final piece was an a la carte salad, a small salad bowl that costs almost nothing but manages to give you extra fillings for your salad.

Well, the sandwich was something, and the grilled chicken was also great, just like the ribeye. The same goes for its fresh ingredients.

When combined, it gave us a strong, mouth-watering flavor that lasted for an entire hour.

Until we drank a full cup of sweet Luzianne tea, Surprisingly, this tea was one of the best we have had so far.

Final Thoughts

Delivery services have evolved quite a bit, all thanks to the internet. Traditionally, you had to send a call; now all you need to do is slide through a few web pages, and that’s it.

Steak-Out did a fantastic job at adjusting its strategy midway; the internal expansion over the external was a big decision.

It probably saved them from making any stupid mistake, which may have even caused them to go bankrupt.

Well, all’s well that ends, and we had a great time enjoying their special meal. They also have kid’s meals, so don’t think twice; just do it.

In the end, all that matters is the flavor, delivery, and freshness of the meal. Steak-Out managed each part, so we gave it a big thumbs up.
